How secure is your data?

A survey conducted by NetAction (www.netaction.org) on data security among nonprofit organizations revealed some interesting information.

*"Despite the importance of computers to nearly every aspect of nonprofit operations, only slightly more than half of the nonprofit organizations we surveyed back up their data every day, and only about one third have a data recovery plan in the event of catastrophic data loss."

With eTapestry your data is backed up for you - every day. Multiple copies of the data are maintained and stored in secure locations and are tested on backup equipment. In addition eTapestry's systems are housed in a secure hosting environment with redundant connections to the Internet and redundant hardware. All of this simply means that you are fully protected against any computer failure or catastrophic data loss.

*"Only 4% of nonprofit organizations encrypt all sensitive files. Yet nearly two thirds of the organizations surveyed store sensitive files on computers connected to a local network, and nearly half store them on computers connected to the Internet."

Your donor data and your access to eTapestry is completely secure. Transmission of data uses the latest SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology to encrypt all data. In short, the data is secure and unreadable by anyone other than those who have access to eTapestry.

*"...computer users in nearly one fourth of the organizations we surveyed do not routinely lock or shut down their computers when they are away from their desks, and 80% of the nonprofits indicated that volunteers, interns, outside consultants and/or temporary staff have access to office computers."

Secure logins, individual user access settings, and complete logging of user activities mean that you can give access to those who need it and restrict it to those who don't.

And remember, any data you store on eTapestry is always your data. You can download a copy at any time for your own use. eTapestry does not view, use, share, sell, or combine your data for any purposes. We simply care for your data with the highest levels of security and care available.
