The Heart of Florida Hope Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization with the mission to encourage philanthropic support of ARC Marion, Inc., so it may improve the care and training of the intellectually and developmentally disabled in Marion County.
Challenge
- Heart of Florida Hope Foundation was using an online payment vendor that did not allow the organization to sell chance drawing tickets, despite it being legal in the state.
- One of the Foundation’s primary fundraisers, Hog for Hope™, annually offers a chance to win a new, custom painted Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
- 600 tickets are sold each year for this fundraiser to purchasers across the country. It needed an easy way to process and sell tickets online for the drawing.
Solution
- Heart of Florida Hope Foundation moved from its previous online payment processor to Blackbaud Merchant Services and began to use the cart functionality in eTapestry® to sell drawing tickets.
- Using custom carts in eTapestry, the Foundation is able to set up a page to sell tickets and other merchandise online offering patrons one-stop shopping for all things Hog for Hope.
- Switching to Blackbaud Merchant Services required just a few clicks of a button and provided a significant per transaction cost savings.
Results
- With Blackbaud Merchant Services, the organization has been able to save more than $100 dollars in fees for the single event. Currently, 10 percent of ticket sales for Hog for Hope are purchased online. As this number increases, so will the Foundation’s savings.
- Heart of Florida Hope Foundation is saving approximately $.44 per chance drawing ticket transaction on its Hog for Hope fundraising event with Blackbaud Merchant Services.
- For large online donations, the lower fees offered by Blackbaud Merchant Services saves the Foundation $7 for a $1,000 donation, $10 for a $1,500 donation and more for larger online donations. This is a significant savings for the small nonprofit and makes a difference when collecting sponsorships online.
